Dragons are seeking interest in players participating in Queensland Masters in three age groups, 30+, 40+ and 50+ for both men and women. While the tournament will host both beach and indoor volleyball, Dragons are seeking interest for indoor teams.

Dragons will organise 5(6?????) training sessions throughout October so you can get ready with your team! These will be held at The Gap SHS on Fridays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, starting ???.

We encourage those who haven't played for awhile to come back to the sport!

Note: This tournament clashes????? with the Jacanana (Coffs Harbour) Mixed tournament. We aim to field teams in both!

I'm interested in Masters! What do I have to do? What do I need to know?

    1) Sign up for this event before attending training. The cost ($65) covers training with Dragons and other organisational costs. Payment is expected before your second week of training.

    2) Go here to register for VQ membership (if you aren't already). All participants must be a current, recreational (or higher) member of VQ. This costs $40, and provides some player insurance should you get injured while playing.

    3) Sign up for the tournament itself directly with VQ here, by 28th October. This costs $110 per player, and includes a Saturday evening social event. Please hold off on registering until you are advised your team name.

    4) Jerseys are optional. Our intention is that Masters teams will play in their own attire. If you really want to purchase a jersey, please discuss with Nathalie.

For more information about the tournament, go to ???? https://www.vq.org.au/competitions/qld-masters/ or reply by email to contact Nathalie.

Jacanana is a mixed tournament in Coffs Harbour, organised as a replacement for the former Jacaranda (Grafton) tournament previously held about this time.

Note: Times are to be confirmed! This tournament may clash with the Qld Masters tournament. We aim to field teams in both!

    Tournament Info
There are normally two mixed divisions, the top one suitable for Div 1 PVL or higher, and the second suitable for everyone else.

Mixed rules require that at least two females be on court at all times, and at least one touch in a three touch rally must be by a female.

Typically you would play 5-7 games over the weekend, depending on the draw.

    Costs

The tournament itself is $50 per person. Accommodation costs organised by Dragons are expected to be around $60 per person per night (to be confirmed). Travel and food costs are extra.

    Travelling

Most people drive down Friday night (via car pool), play games Saturday and Sunday, and drive home Sunday afternoon/evening.  Coffs is about 4.5 hours drive from Brisbane.

    Accommodation

Most Dragons stay together in club-organised accommodation. We will attempt to help with special arrangements where requested, noting that if you ask us to arrange special accommodation that costs more, you are expected to pay for it, even if your plans have to change.

    How to register

To commit to playing in this tournament, please register for this event and fill in the appropriate fields for accommodation, travel etc. You may hold off paying until teams and accommodation costs are finalised.

If you are bringing a non-playing partner or any (non-playing) children with you AND they require accommodation, please include them as your guests, so we can bill you appropriately.

Can under 18 members join a team?

While both divisions are open-aged, juniors can and do participate. Dragons generally expect that juniors participating in teams are supervised by a responsible adult (eg parent).

    Team training
We usually try to give teams time to train together at Thursday night training, for the week or two prior to the tournament.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact.
